Current classes and relevant links

Like everything that involves meeting people, COVID-19 has had a big effect on what we are doing. This will hopefully change in 2021 as things get back to normal, but for now we are on a very reduced schedule.

Brian Moretta, the principal of Baile Escocia, has been teaching salsa in Edinburgh for over 15 years. UKA qualified, he currently teaches regular classes for Edinburgh University Salsa Society as well as other ad hoc events. He has also been the principle DJ at Fiesta Latina, which he has helped build up into the largest regular salsa event in Scotland. Over the last few years he has been asked to use his 20+ years experience of tango dancing to branch into teaching.

SALSA

Classes for Edinburgh University Salsa society are currently taking place online. You can subscribe through the society - payment for the semester will give you access to all the classes. Full information is at the society Facebook group.

The schedule for semester 2 is still to be confirmed. Classes in semester 1 took place on Wednesdays. The focus was on solo work with an introduction to basic steps, turns and lots of footwork. There was some partnerwork, with the exact amount determined by the composition of the class.

TANGO

Classes for Edinburgh University Tango Society have been on Tuesdays during term time, with further information here.

Currently there are no classes taking place, but we hope to return when everything is back to normal.
